It's sleek and fitting, which doesn't add much bulk to it. I also like the refined look it has. Bit one problem is that with unnatural light, the black incase shell appears a very deep purple color. But most of the time it is it's attractive black finish. Also, there is a slight smudge bear the top, where I have no idea came from.

This is a great case for people who just want to sheild their mac from harm which is the point of a case. Yes, it leaves many fingerprint marks when you touch it but I bought monster screen cleaner and it takes it right out! You can say the black sometimes does look like purple but no one realizes cause its a mac thts all they care bout!!!

I admit I was leery about this case after reading some of the reviews on it. People complained that it was hard to get off, that it scratched their MacBooks, and that it caused overheating issues. I've only had mine for a few days, but in normal day to day use I've not had any of the problems some folks seem to have.
It's possible that the model I bought is a newer one with slight design tweaks, but I honestly can't say. I've installed and removed the case several times since I bought it, being very careful in case it did cause any scratches. I don't see any visible damage to my laptop.
On to the review - although I'm rather fond of Apple products, sometimes they make design decisions that leave me scratching my head. Case in point: the smooth plastic feet on the bottom of the laptop that slip and slide on any hard surface.
I tend to use my MacBook Pro on a lapdesk in my recliner. The lapdesk is smooth, finished wood. If I sat with the lapdesk at even the slightest angle, the MacBook would slide off. It was so bad the first night I bought it that I had to set the laptop on the leather arm of my chair just to stabilize it. One of the main reasons I bought this case was to fix this issue.
The rubber feet on the Incase Hardshell do an excellent job of keeping the laptop still. I can tilt my lapdesk to nearly 45 degrees (carefully, of course) and the MacBook won't move.
The other design flaw was in the little indentation you use to open the laptop. The hole is just too small for my fingers, and I couldn't get a good grip on it with the aluminum finish. The Incase Hardshell adds just the tiniest bit of extra grippable surface so that I have no trouble opening the MacBook.
The Apple Logo shines through just fine when the laptop is on, if you're worried about that sort of thing. The case looks like a really deep purple in fluorescent lights, but matte black in other light. Overall it has a pleasant, soft feel to it. I'm happy with the purchase.
As I said before, I had no issues getting the case on or off and I've not noticed any scratches of overheating. If that changes in the next few months I'll post an update accordingly. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because I really don't think it should be this expensive.

*Price (seriously should be cheaper)
*Requires patience to get off
*Rubber can pick up some lint, though not as bad as silicone.
*Doesn't really offer any kind of shock protection.
